The scientific context of the ConnecSenS-2 project is a continuation of its first version. The ConnecSenS project has proven its ability to unite the site’s synergies around structuring instrumental platforms (in-situ measurement platforms, wireless sensor network platforms and digital storage and computing platforms), creating a community of engineers and researchers with complementary profiles and skills, mobilised around common technological and scientific issues. The second part of this project aims to consolidate this dynamic around complementary equipment, but also to open up the scientific field of interest for these networks of communicating sensors deployed in the environment (volcanology, prairial ecosystem). In addition, after focusing scientific interest on the theme of water, this new project also focuses on soil, be it for modelling soil-plant-atmosphere coupling or for the regular and automated measurement of hydrothermal heat flow on active volcanic buildings.
