OTRIF: Real-Time Scheduling for Future Industry

Companies (production of goods or services) wishing to improve their performance (production costs, productivity, minimisation of their energy consumption...) can do so at different levels of decision-making. They may decide to invest strategically long-term in new structures, make changes to their management in the medium term (e.g. reviewing the location of their production workshop) or optimise their operational management, i.e. the day-to-day management of their production units. In order to support companies in their transition to the industry of the future, decision support tools should be available that analyse the information received in real time and propose adjustments to the workshop activity compared to the original ‘offline’ scheduling. Such tools are based on so-called “online” real-time scheduling methods that we want to be interested in in this project. The industry of the future has become increasingly interested in online scheduling problems in recent years. As part of this project, we wish to develop innovative and efficient methods to meet these new industrial challenges. In particular, the work to be carried out could incorporate data and constraints related to energy and environmental concerns in order to minimise the environmental impact of the industry.
