Innovative Macromolecular Processes and Architectures for 4D Printing (Mippi-4D)

The PAMI2-4D project aims to develop Innovative Macromolecular Processes and Architectures for Printing-4D, drawing on the expertise of the functional Polymers team and networks in the fields of plant chemistry and the chemistry of materials under UV-visible or ionising radiation, or by pyrolysis. The proposed actions are part of Axis 1 and 3 of the regional collaborative project, covering the development of intelligent materials for 4D printing (axis 1), and processes for the implementation of new materials in the context of 4D printing (Ax 3). Photoresists obtained by the formulation of original biobased monomers and prepolymers and adapted photolatent catalysts will be developed and converted into functional 4D materials of interest. New functionalities will be given to 3D structures developed by conventional means and subjected to thermal or radiation post-treatment to consolidate the 3D structure by cross-linking, to modify it through specific surface treatment, controlled radiolytic degradation, or by in situ generation of conductive nanocharges of electricity. The results of this work will help to demonstrate the strong potential of plant chemistry and radiation chemistry to improve sustainability and environmental and health profiles of additive manufacturing.
