Target is a translational research project on inflammatory diseases in the Greater East region. It aims to improve the management of patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatism and/or chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. The project’s guiding idea is the identification of molecular signatures reflecting the pathophysiological mechanisms of these chronic inflammatory diseases and/or identifying susceptibility or non-response to biotherapies. The work programme consists of three main stages: 1/recruitment of patients with formation of a new cohort and completion of existing cohorts, 2/full identification of molecular/biological signatures, in particular vibrational spectral signatures; and 3/validation of new diagnostic and theranostic biomarkers. In a process of sharing medical and scientific skills, each partner will bring its own expertise, patient inclusion capacity and networks of international collaborations. Technology platforms and physiopathological models used by the project’s partner research teams will be pooled at inter-regional level. The new equipment will accelerate research in the field of inflammatory diseases, hoping to achieve unthinkable diagnostic objectives to date.
