As an essential activity of the economy of the Greater East Region, viticulture is currently facing the major challenges of reducing phytosanitary inputs and combating the declines of wood diseases. The VitEst project aims to propose innovative and sustainable strategies to address these challenges by bringing together regional research forces. Bringing together all the university teams conducting research on vines in the Greater East Region, this project has two main scientific objectives: 1) better understanding the etiology of wood diseases with the aim of developing treatments and analysing the genetic bases of tolerance to wood diseases in vines, and 2) optimising the use of new mildew and mildew resistant grape varieties now available to wine growers through the development of complementary biocontrol strategies.
