RENATURATION AND VALORISATION OF THE SITE OF THE FORMER HOSPITAL OF THE KING’S GRAU

As part of the reconstruction of the hospital of the King’s Grau, the commune of Le Grau du Roi became the owner of a land of 7 ha on which part of the buildings of the former hospital remain. This land, located at the right of the Bois du Boucanet, constitutes a cut in urbanisation. Today the site is degraded and dangerous for the public. The municipality is carrying out a project to renaturate the site in order to make it again accessible to the public, to restore this urbanisation cut and to improve the landscape. A parking area is planned at the entrance to the site, in an area with few ecological issues. A pedestrian link to the beach is planned, as well as a path through the site and allowing you to discover a bas-relief made by the artist Jean-Charles Lallement (called Bacchus) present on one of the walls of the buildings that will be demolished. The site will therefore mainly be made natural while allowing the public to wander. The dune cord will be reinforced thanks to sand stored on site (from Port Camargue).
