AAP Doctoral Allowances 2018-RISBAC

The present operation concerns the three-year funding of a post of doctoral student for the realisation of a thesis entitled “RISBAC — Risk associated with the occurrence and fate in the environment of emerging organic contaminants (pharmaceutical residues of sewage treatment plant sludge intended for amendment and composting”. The operation will take place within the University of Nîmes, in the CHROME research team. Emerging Organic Contaminants (EOCs) represent an important societal issue due to the presence of carcinogenic or endocrine disrupting compounds in these Contaminants. Sludge from sewage treatment plants is therefore an important source of COE in the environment, as long as they are used in agriculture in amending practices. The RISBAC thesis aims to understand the mechanisms of transfer of these COEs to the aquatic environment, in order to identify parameters for reducing the concentration of EOCs in sewage sludge and also to reduce their use in agricultural practices.
