ERDF — TENDINACT — ENVA — INVEST/FUNCT

Horse tendinopathies are one of the most common reasons for interrupting the career of horses. They have a strong economic impact on professionals. With 18000 jobs and 6500 companies, generating an annual turnover of 1.3 billion euros, in Normandy, the equine sector is an iconic economic sector of the Region, which contributes to its international influence. It is in this context that Normandy has invested in the CIRALE (Centre d’Imagerie et de Recherche sur les Affections Locomotrices Equines), created in 1999 and now internationally recognised as a centre of expertise in the diagnosis of lameness and performance defects in the horse. Recently, the Region has invested in new equipment and infrastructure for CIRALE, in the field of sectional imaging (MRI, scanner) on the one hand, training (track, career) and rehabilitation (boxes and physiotherapy centre "Kinesia) on the other. The Tendinact project aims to remove several of the main scientific barriers to the prevention and management of tendinopathies, while enhancing the equipment and infrastructure recently set up by the Region at CIRALE, attracting renowned scientists to Normandy, among the best international experts in the field of research on tendinopathies, and contributing to the development of innovative non-invasive technologies.
