Since their construction until 2006, six fires have occurred in the “glass and steel”. Within the framework of ANRU 1, Immobilière Basse Seine, between 2006 and 2008, a major rehabilitation of these buildings was carried out for nearly 12.5 million euros, of which almost EUR 10 million from own funds.Despite the efforts of the lessor and his partners, new fires took place in 2009 and 2011 causing the deaths of three children.In view of the dramatic events, Immobilière Basse Seine, in agreement with the State and the City, takes the decision to destroy 14 of the 18 buildings belonging to it and to carry out an expert assessment on the remaining four buildings, located on the so-called "Rameau 1" island.In 2015, in the absence of a finding of expertise on the remaining four buildings, the City of Rouen and Immobilière Basse Seine endorsed the decision to demolish these buildings as well as two other buildings "glass and steel located on the same island and belonging to the City of Rouen.The present operation concerns the demolition of the four buildings "Lods n°3, n°13, n°14 and n°15" belonging to Immobilière Basse Seine is 80 empty dwellings located at the level of the district in urban renewal, Les Hauts de Rouen.
