AAP SEED 2018/PERSE: Extreme Precision of Robots Submitted to Thermal Effects

The objective of the PERSE project is to improve the accuracy of parallel positioning robots by controlling temperature variations and their effects. (*) Robot whose main function is to reach a given position and be able to maintain it over time. These precision robots are used in the fields of space, defence, medical... The research programme will be structured around two identified research axes. — The first research axis proposes a new method to control the effects of external and internal temperature variations in the robot. — The second foresees the development of a new positioning robot of very high precision. The prototype developed will be based on the development of active thermal solution. The proposed project aims to develop and validate innovative concepts quickly applicable to industrial robots developed by Symetry. This work will significantly improve the accuracy and stability of parallel robots. The PERSE project is an R&D project aimed at creating a long-term partnership between public research and industry. It brings together two partners: the Laboratory of Computer, Robotics and Microelectronics of Montpellier (UMR 5506 whose co-tutelles are the University of Montpellier and the CNRS) and the company SYMETRIE — Dépt. 30), SME created in 2001, specialising in precision mechanical design.
