The new high-level T4 service bus line was launched in May 2019. This stretches 8.5 km between the Zénith de Rouen and the metro terminal at Boulingrin. This line is a major asset in terms of mobility since it allows the creation of a link, by public transport at a clean site, between the south and the north of the agglomeration. It passes through the bridge Guillaume le Conquerérant and the large boulevards Rouennais while serving the station Rouen Rive Droite. It meets the objective is to offer an offer of public transport adapted and attractive for the users of the urban area. Thus, in the context of the improvements of the T4 line, very quickly was mentioned the extension of the line from its planned terminus in Boulingrin to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) Charles Nicolle. This extension of the T4 route will ensure an efficient and direct connection between the two main traffic generating poles, namely the SNCF station of Rouen Rive Droite and the CHU Charles Nicolle. This extension of the line to the CHU is part of the continuity of the T4 developments carried out on the right bank in order to create a homogeneity on the large boulevards Rouennais. In order to ensure optimal service, a bus corridor will be created on the pavement on both sides of the boulevard de Verdun, as well as a new intermediate station between the existing stations “Boulingrin and”Saint-Hilaire. This station will meet the same requirements in terms of safety, functionality, accessibility and comfort as those achieved over the entire route of the T4 line. In order to minimise journey times, a bus priority will be assigned to each of the crossroads crossed as part of this extension of the line. These new developments will also contribute to the quality of public spaces. Indeed, this project will improve pedestrian permeability, offer cycling continuity throughout the route to the CHU, and reorganise the counter alleys of Boulevard de Verdun. The objective is to commission the extended T4 line between Boulingrin and the CHU (including all infrastructure works including systems) for September 2022.
