Development of the heat network of the city of Amiens — Phase 2

As part of a policy of sustainable development, the fight against global warming, and a desire for energy independence based on local and renewable energies promoting the energy transition, the city of Amiens wanted to carry out a strong, proactive and ambitious project to develop its heating networks by creating new, more efficient, innovative and environmentally friendly networks. This operation is carried out by a public service delegation entrusted to a Single Operation Mixed Economy Company (SEMOP) called “Amiens Énergies”. The future heat network will serve the city and its agglomeration (public facilities, tertiary premises and collective housing) by providing 62.5 % high-quality heating powered by renewable energy and recovery, at a controlled and secure cost. It will improve the purchasing power of companies and residents that will be connected to the grid by lowering and stabilising the price of their energy bills. A total of 4 zones have been identified to be served by the heat network: the central sector network, the ZAC intercampus network, the ZAC Gare La Vallée network and the specific network on the Nord industrial space.
