AGROECODIV

Jointly conducted by INRA, CIRAD and the University of the West Indies (plant biology and physiology laboratory, UMR 113 IRD/CIRAD/UM2/Sup-agrom/INRA), this project has been scientifically evaluated. Its objective is to design in an innovative way and in an agro-ecological approach, efficient and resilient agricultural production systems for the territories of Guadeloupe. Research efforts will focus on agro-systems inscribed in an agroecological breakdown, and in particular small family farms (80 % of the 8000 farms surveyed (DAAF agricultural census 2010) are part of small family farming) in which breeding and cultivation workshops are juxtaposed or insufficiently integrated. The aim of the project will be to improve the existing one by identifying the barriers and levers to innovation and better integration of the components of the production systems studied. De novo design tools will also be mobilised to model optimised operations. The AgroEcoDiv project is divided into three axes: (i) the participatory construction of Guadeloupe’s eco-territorial intensification, (ii) the characterisation and management of the diversity of biological functions and the processes that can be mobilised in crop and lifting systems, and (iii) the exploration of diversity in terms of agroecological innovation.
