The operation consists of constructing a second reservoir at Boisvin, with a capacity of 3 000 m³, in the immediate vicinity of the existing reservoir, with a capacity of 2 000 m³. The network served by this reservoir supplies the town of the city of Abymes, including the areas of Nérée, Dothémare, Providence, Pointe d’Or, Boisripeaux, Bazin, etc. The range of the current tank is estimated at 8h on average and less than 6 hours on peak day. This is notoriously inadequate and regularly causes water shortages (especially high-rise dwellings, particularly on Boisvin). The existing 2 000 m³ reservoir is currently powered by gravitary via the Belle Eau Gift line. At the same time, there is a need to improve the supply of the current tank and the future tank: the project to build a new drinking water treatment plant in Perrin Abymes from the departmental council network will resolve this issue (subsidy application under the ERDF OP). The construction of this reservoir is part of the list of the 12 highest priority operations (so-called “urgent 1”) identified in the Safe Drinking Water Supply Plan (PSAEP) validated by all stakeholders on 1 September 2014.
