As part of the West Indies Earthquake Plan, the Departmental Council signed a multi-year contract with the State on 24 November 2011 providing for an action programme aimed at reducing the seismic vulnerability of Guatemalan colleges. This contract marked the operational start of a first phase of work for six institutions, including the Collège Bébel de Sainte-Rose. The ERDF programme will contribute EUR 6 551 415 to the seismic rehabilitation of this college of 28 classes, through consolidation or reconstruction of buildings (without extension), where reinforcement is not possible from a technical and economic point of view.
