The Caribbean hosts a rich plant heritage, whether in natural areas, within farms, or ex situ in collections of genetic resources. These biological resources are a valuable heritage for agricultural development and agro-processing. They enable and will enable the development and/or dissemination of plant varieties and associated technical routes, responding to developments in our regions. Better exploitation of genetic resources should therefore make it possible to offer more diversified production systems in terms of species and variety ranges. The project aims to consolidate and sustain the system so that it can conserve its genetic resources in the long term, enrich collections and disseminate them more widely. It follows Tranche 1 (2015-2017). It will take place from 01/01/2018 to 31/12/2020. The development and exploitation of the genetic resources of the CRB INRA-CIRAD Tropical Plants of the West Indies will be linked to the varietal innovation project: CAVALBIO, with transfer operations carried out with technical institutes and professional partners, within the framework of the RITA (Network of Innovation and Agricultural Transfer).
