The Caribbean region is home to many nearby island territories that generate large flows of people and goods, including agricultural goods. As a result, it is particularly conducive to the introduction and spread of infectious human, animal and plant diseases that threaten the socio-economic balance of its territories. Successive health crises in Guadeloupe (black cecosporiosis of bananas, greening citrus fruits, chikungunya, dengue, ZIKA) illustrate how the intensification of trade increases health risks for local populations and agriculture. The main objective of the Malin project is to improve the control of human, animal and plant infectious diseases in Guadeloupe and throughout the Caribbean by federating the Guaadeloupean institutions mobilised infectiology around cross-cutting issues and common approaches.
