The distribution unit of Beaugendre à Vieux Habitants provides drinking water from the north of the commune (including the village) as well as from the south end of Bouillante (Monchy). The operation of the distribution network is penalised by a low efficiency (47.8 % in 2017 in Bouillante and Vieux Habitants). Under these conditions, any breakage on the grid causes a hydraulic imbalance and power outages that can exceed the day in the most problematic cases. These permanent problems are amplified during Lent: since the capacity to produce the catchment is very limited, the water supply is provided in a very tense manner. Generally speaking, the asbestos-cement pipelines in Guadeloupe are the most susceptible to breakage and need to be renewed in the short to medium term. The target lines are the most problematic in terms of operation and are the continuation of the 2016 emergency programme (3.5 km renewal on Bouillante). The project involves renewing more than 3 km of asbestos-cement network in the north of Old Habitants (Marigot and Bouchu areas) that require frequent breakage interventions. The lines were identified by the CAGSC, with the support of the network operator CGSP. Some diameters will be reinforced and all connections will be renewed. The pipes implemented will be made of cast iron and the HDPE connections
