While mechanisms for reducing housing problems exist in Reunion, many people still live in unworthy and unhealthy housing, reinforcing their social and economic exclusion. In order to address the situations of inadequate housing and economic and social precariousness presented above, our project will focus on developing projects to improve unhealthy and degraded housing by mobilising, on their own site, the inhabitants, but also volunteers and young volunteers in the Civic Service experiencing difficulties of social and professional integration. In view of the geography of the pockets of insanubrity in Réunion (see the context of the project) we will develop our actions in parallel on the **Commune du Port** (Policy Quarter of the Say-Piscine City located on the TCO — West Coast Territory) and on the **territory of the CIREST** (Eastern Intercommunal Community). The territories for action are being defined by the Community Council. Our project consists of a single step-by-step action like this (details in the action sheet). ** Selection of beneficiaries and preparation for entry of the project** > Identification of beneficiaries (marginalised persons, early school leavers, > social breakdown and/or living in unhealthy and precarious housing) in > collaboration with local structures (communities, houses > departmental, MIO, social landlord, CCAS, associations...) > Social and technical diagnosis and signing of a moral commitment contract > between the Building Companions and the beneficiary > Signing of a Civic Service Contract between the-the-youth > volunteer and the Companions Builders **Accompanied by the project is a problem-based solution** the Accompanied Auto-Rehabilitation projects, which we propose to support, over 3 years, 160 beneficiaries in their project to reappropriate their habitat and their living conditions. Indeed, experience has shown that participating technically and financially (up to their financial possibilities for the purchase of materials) in the construction site, and mutual assistance between people who are not “specialists”, coming from different backgrounds, can restore self-confidence and be mobilised in the implementation of personal projects. ** Orientation of the public with a view to more sustainable integration** Personal support, complementary to those already existing, will be offered according to the situation of the person, the requests expressed and/or problems encountered. In order to contribute best to this, the Builders’ Companions will mobilise the skills within their reunion team and work in synergy with local actors and social workers (street educator, Mission d’Orientation et d’Information, Ateliers Chantiers d’Insertion, CCAS...) who have been broken during this exercise; this ensures overall support. The duration of this support will depend on the individual and for a maximum of one year.
