The project corresponds to the creation of an agricultural methanisation unit in the municipality of Lillers. It will deal with a variety of deposits of agricultural waste from various partner operators. Methanisation will reduce the impact of their activity on nitrate pollution of groundwater and the deodorisation of their effluents. An overall saving of 6,485 tonnes of CO2 equivalent will be achieved through changes in the type of waste treatment, the substitution of fossil energy and the substitution of mineral fertilisers through the application of the digestate. The operation meets the eligibility criteria for projects described in the Implementation Document for Axis 3 Investment Priority OT 4a. The project is part of a territorial approach by accepting the waste of different local producers (agricultural waste, food industry waste, local authorities, etc.) within a maximum radius of a few tens of kilometres. The return of the digestate to the soil will contribute to the restructuring of agricultural land and to the removal of all manure deposits in the territory. The project fully responds to the strategy of the operational programme to increase the production of energy from renewable resources. The optimal recovery of the generated energy injected into the gas distribution network will lead to an efficiency of close to 100 %.
