In order to respond to the significant increase in attendance at Tourcoing station (from a local station with 400 passengers per day in 2015 to the status of the metropolis’s second station after Lille Flandres/Lille Europe with more than 1 million passengers in 2017) and facilitate accessibility and intermodality, the Metropolitan Council voted to create a multimodal hub. For this exchange centre, the MEL is planning the construction of a bridge car park. It is a silo car park consisting of 9 half levels, largely ventilated with a reinforced concrete frame, located avenue Alfred Lefrançois in the immediate vicinity of the train station. 270 seats will be created, including 221 free spaces reserved for public transport users and 49 paid public parking spaces. Work will start in April 2020 for a period of 12 months.
