The “Prioribus” project led by Dijon metropolis aims to facilitate and streamline bus traffic on the major lines of the network with, at the key, for users of public transport, more comfort and efficiency. The aim is to improve the service of municipalities and neighbourhoods and thus attract new users by guaranteeing them an offer of travel that is economically competitive and environmentally efficient. Prioribus deals with changes in operating conditions (clean site corridors, approach corridors, systematic priority at lights, etc.), service levels (accessibility of stops, improvement of passenger information, and adjustment to forecast traffic) and commercial speeds. It requires the modernisation of fire-fired junctions, the development of an on-board system and the installation of ground equipment. By improving the quality of service and effectively connecting the various districts of the metropolis, including the priority areas of the city’s policy to the city centre and the main facilities of the agglomeration, Dijon metropolis aims to optimise the use of the public transport network. The project thus responds to the priorities of the European Union, which aims to increase the share of the population using public transport, thereby helping to reduce CO2 emissions and car use.
