The project consists of the total renovation of the wood boiler and heat network of Corte to which Corse Bois Energie has been appointed delegate. The key figures for the installation are: — 11 499 MWh of heat delivered to 34 substations (subscribers) — 7 km (3.5 A/R) of underground heat network — Consumption of 5,000 tonnes of wafers per year Heat production will be completely renewed by the installation of 2 wood boilers in cascade of 2.5 and 1 MW of power, as well as a 7 MW fuel boiler for the booster and backup which should operate 5 % of the time. This renewal will also result in a significant improvement in the efficiency of wood boilers, the new boilers whose efficiency is 85 % will replace the old ones whose efficiency is estimated to be 70 %. This work will make the heat network and its substations more efficient. The objective is to increase network losses from 30 % to 20 %, i.e. a 33 % reduction in initial losses. The heat currently lost annually is 4 780 MWh. The savings thus generated would be 1 578 MWh representing, in the current state of the boiler house, 384 tonnes of wood and 31 m³ of fuel oil or 85 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. The estimated project schedule foresees a start of work in January 2017 to be completed in early 2020.
