Acquisition of six electric shuttles — Municipality of Porto Vecchio

The municipality of Porto Vecchio intends to connect the districts making up the urban area by means of a transport system in “clean” mode, in order to obtain 6 electric buses with 22 seats (all accessible to people with reduced mobility) carrying out regular circuits in urban areas. The municipality of Porto-Vecchio covers more than 16,000 hectares, it consists of a main urban pole constituting an agglomeration, several villages and numerous hamlets scattered along the coastline, in the plains and in the mountains. The urban landscape is therefore characterised by a dense urban pole and a number of hamlets scattered throughout the territory, facilities and services on the outskirts of the city centre. The municipality has embarked on an energy transition approach by setting ambitious energy saving targets. The absence of public transport leads to the exclusive use of vehicles and also leads to unequal access to public places. The introduction of public transport in urban areas through the purchase of 6 electric shuttles promotes synergy and interaction between different clusters of the agglomeration and has an impact in terms of reducing CO2 emissions. This project to purchase electric shuttles is consistent with the strategy of the travel policy of the city of Vecchio focused on the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility.
