LIPANG

The team in the Cellular and Vegetatal Physiology Laboratory aims to use living to produce lipids as an energy source, as a molecular platform for green chemistry and as a therapeutic molecule. This objective is based on a unique knowledge of the lipid metabolism of plant cells — plants and microalgae — and on the best analytical methods to qualify and quantify these lipids. CEA has developed a platform that became in 2014 the first fully operational membrane lipid analysis tray in France, allowing the analysis of all glycerlipid classes, from phospholipids to galactolipids to triacylglycerol. The purpose of this application is to open up this platform to new partnerships for health and well-being by duplicating the already operational analytics for the energy components. The objective is to double our analytical capacity by automating lipid extraction and doubling certain mass spectrometers. At present, the equipment of this platform is distributed in several buildings of CEA Grenoble. They have at their disposal premises that can collect all their equipment and which are already under development. They therefore wish to continue the extension of this platform by rationalising it and opening it up to industry through the provision of services.
