The project leader, the Departmental Council of Ariège wishes to promote the practice of adapted skiing in the Ariege resorts for people with disabilities. In order to realise this commitment, the Department wishes to enable potential users (educators of specialised institutions and their beneficiaries) to have access to the appropriate equipment and to have the capacity to handle the equipment in optimal conditions of comfort and safety. The operation therefore consists, on the one hand, of the acquisition of seated ski equipment (ski chairs) and, on the other hand, the introduction of an introduction to the use and steering of these ski chairs. The operation takes place over three years. The project will begin on an experimental basis with the acquisition of 4 ski chairs and the initiation of 9 pilots and, at the end of the 3 years, aims to equip the four winter sports resorts of the department with chairlifts (Guzet-Neige, Monts d’Olmes, Ax 3 Domaines and Ascou-Pailhères) with 3 ski chairs each (i.e. 12 chairs in total). These materials will be made available to the Departmental Committee for Adapted Sport of Ariège (CDSA09).
