PURCHASE OF A LOG CHARRIOT

The project leader, the Scierie des Bois de la Vallée du Job, wishes to develop its activity of processing Pyrenean wood by buying a log cart. This production tool is used for sawing trunks at the beginning of the production chain, thus increasing the productivity of the sawmill and processing local timber more fully. The Scierie des Bois de la Vallée du Job, one of the last sawmills in the Comminges, is a family and traditional company that has existed since 1986. It uses only wood from the Occitanie Region and in particular the Pyrenees massif for its activity. Annually, the company processes about 3 000 m³ of oak (from Haute-Garonne/Hautes-Pyrénées/Gers), 1 000 m³ of fir (100 % Haute-Garonne), 500 m³ Douglas (100 % Haute-Garonne), 100 m³ chestnut (100 % Haute-Garonne), 100 m³ beech (100 % Haute-Garonne) and 100 m³ poplar (100 % Haute-Garonne). The sawmill’s activities are based on sawing, planing and drying of wood, and the wood processing produces various finished products such as parquet flooring, terrace blades, panelling, wood ankles, frames or coffin boards. The assistance requested under the POI FEDER Pyrénées concerns the purchase and installation of the log trolley and the evacuation rollers, allowing for faster and better precision sawing.
