The main objective of the project is to promote the competitiveness of SMEs and improve their operating conditions by improving the accessibility, urban image and comfort of the target area. As the services focus on the city centre, the needs for traffic also increase. The project will also improve road safety along Kalajoki roads as traffic volumes will increase in the coming years. The project is needed as a catalyst for the development of the city centre’s services and to bring a solution to a poorly perceived traffic environment in the Kalajokientie’s catchment area, where companies in the area perceive their attractiveness as a degrading factor. The project promotes the realisation of low-carbon and accessibility in the project’s measures to support the maintenance of the services in the city’s core area, making them accessible by walking and cycling. The project measures include the development of Kalajoentie road road, light traffic routes, the area’s comfort, parking systems and lighting, and accessibility. As a result of the project, the competitiveness and operating conditions of SMEs have improved and new investments have been made in the region. The accessibility of Kalajokientie has significantly improved, the urban image improved and the comfort of the city has improved, both low-carbon and unobstructed mobility has been made possible, and the services remain in the city centre and can be reached by walking or cycling.
