Aviapolis City

The aim of the project is to increase the attractiveness and investment of the Helsinki Airport airport area, Aviapolis City, and to support its urbanisation and growth into a prestigious and cozy airport area. The aim is to create the conditions for new industrial investment, value chains and job creation in the airside, and to increase the growth and internationalisation potential of companies. In order to increase the attractiveness of the Aviapolis City airport area, a public-private-partnership will be formed in cooperation with a knowledge and innovation hub based on regional strengths and smart specialisation. Traditional industries such as commerce, transport and logistics can be renovated by networking companies in different sectors. T&k activities will be increased in these areas in cooperation between companies, research institutes, universities and vocational training institutions in the region, as well as the public and third sectors. By means of development activities tailored to the needs of companies, city operators and residents, the diversity and comfort of the area will be increased through temporary construction and experimentation. Development projects will help companies to gain access to lead markets. Based on the results of international airport benchmarking, best practices will be introduced for all parties to support their development activities. During the project, the growth and internationalisation potential of companies will increase and the specialisation of the area will be strengthened. As a result of development projects, T&K&I business develops, new innovations, ways of operating and new forms of business in the region emerge. New solutions tested in development projects will increase the attractiveness of the area. The area specialises and improves the business opportunities of companies and increases the comfort of its residents and employees. The innovation hubs and business cooperation created during the project will result in permanent activities that will continue to develop the region and its enterprises.
