The social and health care system is largely built from the point of view of corrective action. A shift in focus towards prevention is identified, but the tools for doing so are still quite inadequate. The goal of the Activating Project, implemented by the University Centre of Kokkola, Chydenius, is to implement three sub-projects focusing on the development of preventive operating models and services. The main objective of the project is to create new service and product concepts based on people’s own ability to maintain their health and ability to function. The Activate project enables well-being and health technology companies and service companies in the field of fitness and rehabilitation to participate in various sub-projects aimed at schoolchildren, working-age and seniors. In these sub-projects, companies have the opportunity to test their own products and services in an innovative customer-oriented environment using the Living Lab operating model. The aim is to develop broader preventive service and product packages whose effectiveness and cost-effectiveness can be monitored. Operating models and new service concepts are created through interaction between different actors, which takes into account the needs of customers and society, markets and technology at the same time.
