In order to implement its energy strategy, the University of Vaasa built a new energy research centre VEBIC, which includes an internal combustion engine and fuel laboratory. The project is widely marketed to various stakeholders and promoted in cooperation with industry in the Vaasa region in particular. The industry provides the university with significant research equipment and participated in the design and fitting-out of laboratories. The project created a research infrastructure that serves both national and international needs and further expands its activities. The project included the design, equipping and commissioning of the internal combustion engine and fuel laboratory, the further development of the research strategy and communication on the project and research activities. New projects have been developed and more are continually planned.
