Vuokatti is Finland’s largest year-round and highly developed tourist centre, whose key strengths are diverse physical activities and genuine year-roundness. Vuokatti has about 7500 beds. According to statistics, the number of overnight stays is approximately 700,000 per year. Vuokatti’s tourist services are diverse in the commercial and administrative services offered by Sotkamo Village, a few kilometres away from Vuokatti. The purpose of the Masterplan project is to ensure the development of the tourist area of Sotkamo and Vuokatti and to envision their joint development path into an even more attractive area for both tourists, entrepreneurs and permanent residents. The goal is to make Vuokatti even stronger year-round tourist centre by developing strengths and creating new success factors. The second objective is to develop the village of Sotkamo and its services as part of the whole. Overall, the project aims to create a business environment that supports the development and commercialisation of their products and services, taking into account demand and user orientation. As far as possible, the results of the Masterplan project will also be used in the ongoing Vuokatti general planning.
