Growth Kainuu’s project consists of the ERDF-funded Growth, Internationalisation and Ownership Transfer project and the ESF-funded Management and Personnel Development project. The aim of the project is to encourage and promote Kainuu SMEs and micro-enterprises to expand and seek growth in Kainuu, Finland and international markets. The aim of the project is to strengthen the business know-how and internationalisation capabilities of SMEs that are growth-oriented and have growth potential, are already on the international market and are aimed at international markets. The project supports SME renewal, sustainable growth, internationalisation and business transfer activities. The aim is to grow companies’ profitable business and turnover. Companies are supported in the development, specialisation and networking of their growth potential and new business. Encouraging growth is a broad package in which companies are motivated, activated and supported by various means such as development programme, expert services, joint events, Broker networks, developer partnerships, company-specific growth milling events and networking. Training and group coaching also play a key role. The project will build business networks and other forms of cooperation between companies. The project will support the potential of SMEs in the region to create new networks and access the services offered by international projects. The project will raise business awareness of low carbon. The project’s cross-cutting themes include low carbon, ecology, digitalisation and support for the quality of working life and the development of productivity and performance. The project results in a regional systematic operating model/service that allows growth, internationalisation and changes of ownership to be managed efficiently, professionally and in a controlled manner. The aim of the project is to set up a contact point on change of ownership in the region, which can be clearly found in the area, with the aim of keeping the change of ownership visible in the area and activating the related measures and the development of services. As a result of the project’s activities, the number of growing SMEs will increase and their turnover will increase. New SMEs start international trade or start exporting in a new business area.
