Low-carbon travel and service chain

Promoting low-carbon and energy-efficient travel through different travel and service chains is an essential part of the fight against climate change. The aim of the project is to create a more carbon-neutral mobility approach, which aims, for example, to utilise new information technology solutions and to form travel chains to make better and more efficient use of public transport. The project, together with various actors in the region, pilots new information technology tools as part of travel, combining travel modes and different parts of the service chain with the same service platform. The development of operating models and procedures takes place through planning and practical concrete actions. The project explores existing applications that are currently either in use or being developed by operators in the context of smooth travel. The objective is to find an operating model that combines different systems into a functional whole and promotes the use of public transport. The aim is to find a low-carbon and energy-efficient mobility model that facilitates daily mobility by combining different modes of transport. The project will network with transport and tourism companies, municipalities, cities and provincial associations. The aim is to significantly reduce private car use and to shift passenger flows to the public transport network by 2020, with at least half of passengers departing from Tampere-Pirkkala airport using a public transport network (travel chain) as their primary means of transport. The design, conceptualisation and piloting of systems, as well as the co-operation of operators, is essential in order to enable travel from more remote regions using the existing transport network through the project. The goal is an easy, smooth and quick way to travel, for example, when the customer can check out himself on the flight, buy their tickets in advance simply online or mobilely for the whole journey they need, and include additional services of their choice as part of the package. The ecological and economic benefits achieved are informed and the projects serve as an example, motivating other municipalities in indoor Finland and companies to take similar measures. Global climate change, especially in international aviation, is an important area with particular attention. One objective is to be part of this international cooperation and to have broad international visibility in the industry.
