Smart Living Technologies — Investments

Smart Living Technologies — Investments The aim of the project is to create a new development environment combining the ICT and construction industries in Lapland’s Bachelor of Applied Sciences, which will serve to promote digitalisation and help create new innovations and jobs on the cutting surfaces of the construction and ICT sector. The aim of this project is to invest in hardware and software enabling a new development environment. This investment project is linked to the Smart Living Technologies package. A parallel application is being made for the “Intelligent Living Technologies — Kickstart” project, which aims to carry out the erection, deployment and testing of a new development environment. The “Intelligent Living Environment Technologies” project is based on the results of the study projects “RAKLAB 2016 Phase 1” and “Smart ICT Competence Center — Study”. The study projects surveyed the views of Lappish companies, RDI operators and education on the development needs of the construction and ICT sector and on the development environment appropriate to them. The potential of digitalisation and smart solutions in the construction sector emerged as a potential competitiveness factor and created a natural reference framework to link the development of the ICT sector to the development of the construction sector. As a measure, investment studies are carried out in this investment project and investments in equipment and software necessary to create a development environment are carried out. The themes of the project’s investments consist of the development packages that have emerged during the study projects, such as Smart Systems, Intelligent Energy Management, Sustainable Built Environment and Digital Built Environment. As a result of the project’s investments, an intelligent living technologies development environment is created. This means an ICT and building technology development environment, where technologies in these fields integrate content together, creating a whole that promotes digitalisation. The implementation of the development environment will take into account the previously acquired equipment and the intelligent environment will serve Lapland’s expertise and the growth of work by combining different areas of expertise in a new way. The Intelligent Living Technologies package is naturally linked to the Arctic Smartness Development Environment cluster, the development of the Arctic bioeconomy and the design cluster, providing the region with an internationally competitive development environment that supports sustainable growth and work in the region.
