With the revolution of robotics (including software robotics), companies operating in highly changing sectors such as logistics and production need new tools to thrive in national and global competition. The aim of the project is to identify robotics and related challenges in these companies, to increase the skills of the personnel and companies as part of preparing for future changes, and to find and exploit new business opportunities. The revolution in robotics brings challenges to, for example, the female-dominated care sector and expert work, as well as low-skilled male-dominated sectors such as logistics and transport. The project takes into account the gender impact and the project’s activities prevent the risk of exclusion in a number of gender-specific areas. The project also supports equality and equality in the prevention of exclusion in low-education sectors. During the project, companies, educational institutions and experts from different fields increase the competence of companies by coaching companies and their staff to face and anticipate the challenges posed by robotics, as well as to seek new business benefits and opportunities for future changes. In the course of the project, companies selling robotics in Finland will raise awareness of the challenges and wishes of the public sector, thereby promoting the development of the robotics market in Finland. The project is primarily implemented in the form of co-development by companies, educational institutions and cities, in a process that combines the expertise of enterprises, adult education and training institutions’ knowledge of the field of robotics, and the challenges facing cities. The project consists of four work packages. In the first package, an internal modular development model for coaching will be developed regarding the role of companies in supply chains, the changes and opportunities brought about by robotics, and the implementation of experiments. The model will be passed on to the key staff of the educational institutions carrying out the training and will be combined with their own expertise in robotics, automation and production. The package two will carry out the first business coachings in collaboration between Metropolia and local educational institutions for companies. They ensure the transfer of know-how and the localisation of the model through a roll-out process, whereby coaches of part-users, through joint coaching, take over the project’s practices and localise them to the needs of local companies.
