Lapland Filming Locations

Several international film and TV productions are currently filmed annually in Lapland. Demand has multiplied in a few years, especially with the start of an incentive for the audiovisual sector in Finland. Larger productions need a more comprehensive service and, due to the number of surveys, the film commission’s digital service process needs to be made more efficient. The networks acquired as a result of the audiovisual incentive marketing project implemented by the House of Lapland should also be expanded and maintained, as the activity of the incentive is likely to expand and the amount allocated to the incentive will increase. The aim of the project is to create and produce comprehensive service packages from Lapland’s photographic sites to better serve customers, as well as to develop the location bank and the film commission’s digital service process to meet the growing demand more efficiently and automatically. The service packages are designed using customers who, based on feedback, will build the packages. Lean thinking will be used in the development of packages and service processes, and packages will be tested by the target audience from an early stage with various marketing measures. Excursions are organised for the final customers. The trips serve both as marketing of the area and location packages, as well as as builders of networks that are important for the sector, as well as as drivers of customer understanding in compiling packages. In addition, the project will carry out marketing trips to key events in the audiovisual sector, where information is collected for the compilation of localisation packages (customer’s needs) and subsequently produced localisation packages will be marketed. Presence at events enables discussions and networking with wider customer groups. The result of the project is 10-15 producted and tested service packages combining the services needed by the production team. In addition to providing customers with high-quality and efficient services, the producted packages ensure that the environmental impact of productions is minimised in accordance with the Code of Conduct issued by the Lapland Film Commission. In addition, as a result of the project, Lapland is more widely known as the world’s most efficient and cinematographic articulate location.
