The objectives of the project are to develop the transport links of the Green Park business park, located in the Penttilä district of the city of Joensuu, in order to make it possible to implement the workplace area in accordance with the overall plan of the area, and to utilise the transport network as part of the region’s overall intelligent logistics, and to offer the possibility, for example, to locate energy self-sufficiency solutions in street areas. The objectives contribute to the achievement of the Carbon-neutral Joensuu 2025 target set as the main objective of the City of Joensuu’s climate programme and contribute to the circular economy. The project measures include the construction of Kuhasalontie, Ahtaajankuja and Luostarintie in accordance with the comprehensive plans drawn up. The total length of the streets to be built is about 1.55 km. Street sections include roadways, cycle paths and street equipment such as road signs and lighting, as well as equipment serving the area. Where possible, recycled materials will be used for implementation. The lighting is carried out with energy-efficient led lighting, where the power of the lighting is automatically adjusted according to the expected use of the street, but the lighting to ensure the safety of the area is used whenever necessary. The project also draws up a communication plan and evaluates the content and implementation of the project at various stages of the project. The project results in the creation of a Green Park business park transport network, which serves not only the business park but also the development of the Joensuu Deep Harbour area. The transport network to be implemented by the project is important for the competitiveness of existing and future companies operating in the region, as it enables the establishment of an overall intra-regional logistics and external logistical road transport connections from the region and the region. The result of the project will contribute to the realisation of the business park area and, at the same time, the transport network implemented in the project will improve the region’s logistical connections and the road safety of pedestrians and cycling. In addition, as a result of the project, street areas can be used to invest a low-heat grid aiming at energy independence in the region.
