Implementation pathway for sustainable growth environments (KET0)

The pathway for sustainable growth development is a joint project by the City of Espoo, VTT, Aalto University and Omnia, which promotes the objectives of the Finnish Sustainable Growth Programme by strengthening private and public partnerships and developing research infrastructure towards a growing market for the green transition and digital transformation. The strengths of Espoo and Uusimaa as a whole are diverse and international business, strong networking, and development and innovation activities. The project creates the conditions for building a research and development environment for energy and mobility solutions in the Otaniemi-Keilaniemi area using unique smart pole technology, the Kera region develops an internationally well-known area of clean and intelligent construction, and Kiviruukki will form an agile experimental environment for food system and circular economy demonstrations. The development environment measures are implemented in cooperation with the City of Espoo, VTT, Aalto University and Omnia, as well as several partner companies and other actors. The measures of this project are divided into six work packages: SG 1. Management and Effectiveness TP 2. Clean and Intelligent City TP 3. Digital Opportunities TP 4. Clean Technology Demonstrations TP 5. Energy transformation and electrification of transport TP 6. Sustainable procurement, inclusion and communication measures in the work packages have an impact on carbon neutrality and the economy in the short, medium and long term. The project will implement both fast-to-use solutions and create the conditions for future jobs and competitiveness. The impact of the measures will be assessed on the competitiveness of enterprises and research, as well as on sustainability objectives, both from an economic, environmental, cultural and social point of view. The project will develop a comprehensive framework for the effectiveness of the project’s development environments and comprehensive impact indicators (KPIs). In order to succeed, new solutions require learning and development with all stakeholders The project will activate and implement a large number of measures. The importance of sustainable growth, the smoothness of everyday life and sustainability are widely communicated to and in cooperation with the target groups. The aim is to accelerate the transition to the green transition and the use of digital solutions in everyday life. On the other hand, this also creates positive demand and thus guides development work. Marketing and communication support change and, by way of example, show direction. The project makes it increasingly visible how cities, research institutes, educational institutions, businesses and citizens can be part of the solution to the green transition and climate change. The project follows horizontal principles (gender equality and ecological, economic, social and cultural sustainability) by taking into account the needs of different groups. The project will develop future solutions for all genders. The aim of the project is to create new jobs that benefit society as a whole. Different user groups are taken into account in the design, impact assessment and marketing and communication of solutions.
