The aim of the project is to promote the development of new, autonomously mobile intelligent robotics solutions related to the circular economy, the expansion of related innovation activities and the emergence of new business. The aim is also to strengthen multi-functional dialogue and the development of new low-carbon products and services. The project will also lay the foundations for larger-scale product and service development, increase RDI activities multilaterally and promote the creation of networks also in international cooperation. The project’s work also supports the creation of a cluster for the development of autonomous commercial vehicles in Uusimaa on a long-term basis. In the course of the project, various autonomously mobile small-scale solutions will be developed and demonstrated, e.g. an autonomous mobile robotic platform for recycling and collecting waste at district level attached to modules with different functions, an autonomous mobile robot for cleaning park areas, and other solutions to be tested through an innovation competition. Solutions close to customer and citizen interfaces are particularly emphasised in the local context. Modularity is at the heart of the technical solutions of the project. This means that during the project, the solutions developed by the companies are modules that can be attached to a platform robot, interchangeable and perform tasks mainly related to the circular economy. For example, 3D/VR models will be assembled through the pilot procurements, from which a few are selected for the actual proto construction and demonstration phases. Beside the perspectives of service design, we also hear the opinions of local residents. Equally, solutions must bring clear added value to the organisations that acquire them, such as those responsible for urban circular economy or maintenance. Demand and user orientation are the core objectives of developing new solutions and reaching new business potential. During and after the demonstrations, an analysis of the impact and business potential will also be carried out for the benefit of companies and other relevant organisations. The project supports in particular the objectives of the ERDF TL 2 and its ET 5.1 to strengthen the innovation performance of enterprises, as well as the Uusimaa smart specialisation strategy, which emphasises the importance of resource wisdom and the development of carbon-neutral solutions. The project also supports the Uusimaa 2.0 programme, which highlights the importance of new innovations and new business activities as a prerequisite for the region’s growth. The project supports well the programmes of carbon neutrality and sustainable development and digitalisation in the cities of Uusimaa. The project also supports the Baltic Sea Strategy, which emphasises, among other things, the focus of funding towards the growth and international dimension of companies, especially by supporting and investing in the development and exploitation of innovations. The horizontal principles of the project emphasise in particular sustainable development and its economic dimension through the development of the industrial structure, carbon-neutral and innovative solutions, but also the social dimension through taking into account local opinion. At the same time, the project supports gender equality by taking into account women’s perspectives in the development of services.
