6Time: CircVol Exploitation of large volume by-streams and land masses in cities 2

The project will provide new information for businesses and 6A Time for cities to bring solutions to the exploitation of large volume masses. The aim of the project is to support systemic change towards a circular economy in companies and cities, while reducing the carbon footprint resulting from infrastructure construction and thus mitigating climate change. The project will provide information on the reforms of the MRL and Waste Act, which aim, among other things, at a carbon-neutral society and to raise the recycling rate to at least the EU recycling targets. The aim of the project is to support cities and businesses in taking into account the carbon footprint and making more extensive use of secondary materials through the dissemination of information. The EU’s horizontal principles are sustainable development, equality and equality. The EU’s horizontal principles are sustainable development, equality and equality. The objective of sustainable development is to ensure that future generations have equal or better opportunities for action than current generations have. Sustainable economic growth is the most important safeguard for well-being and future operating conditions. The CircVol 2 project promotes sustainable re-use of high-volyage flows and a sustainable environment that will also be sustainable for future generations. The project encourages re-use and the recovery of recycled materials in land and urban construction, saving valuable and depleted natural resources and typically reducing the carbon footprint. The project implements a 6Time strategy, which is to strengthen national competitiveness, create new skills, business and employment, and use cities as development environments. In the project, companies produce sustainable solutions that are competitive in national and international comparisons. The solutions are based on new insights, the aim is to grow and renew companies’ business operations and thereby create jobs. Information will be disseminated and rooted between businesses and 6A Time cities. This way the regions learn from each other together and the knowledge is accumulated. This approach supports the construction of good cooperation 6A time between cities in dealing with masses of large volumes. Cities will be supported in saving energy and virgin land masses, achieving carbon-neutral targets and moving towards sustainable development. Three main results will be achieved during the project: 1) produce carbon footprint calculations for regeneration materials suitable for infrastructural construction 2) produce new knowledge of land-disposed dredging masses and their management 3) disseminate and root the results of the CircVol and CircVol 2 projects. The coordinator of the project is Turku Science Park Ltd. The project partners are Åbo Akademi, Turku University of Applied Sciences, the Geological Research Centre (GTK) and the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE). The duration of the project is 12 months and a budget of approximately EUR 250,000.
