Vuokatti Destination project

Objectives The needs of tourist operators in the Vuokamo Vuokatti region resulted in a project with measures to accelerate the recovery from the coronavirus outbreak. They have produced content for the Vuokatti Destination project. The aim is to create new attraction for the region by stepping up digital marketing measures and by producing content for virtual tourism, as well as developing tools for e-selling and information management. Knowledge-based management tools keep up with demand-driven measures in the area and aim for the most effective and efficient functioning of the whole tourist area with digital tools. Measures The measures are divided into three work packages. Workpackage 1 is management with knowledge. It buys information-based management tools from various actors such as, for example, what area tourists arrive in Sotkamo and how many day visitors are. During the project, various sources can be tested, which can then be left to the region’s own use after the end of the project. The package also provides a background study for tourist entrepreneurs, asking for desired destination markets, accessibility and cooperation. Work Package 2 is digital. It complements the information content of online marketing platforms on tourist destinations in the region and produces a digital service brochure for web pages and tests online sales platforms. In addition, online sales workshops will be carried out and storyd virtual tours will be made available to tourists from five different locations in the Sotkamo Vuokatti area. Check the availability of the voyage planning tool for use in the area. Workpackage 3 utilises digitality in promoting the region to domestic customers and creates an attractive domestic campaign in social media, digital channels and other media tools. After the end of the project, management tools have been implemented and the number of tourists in the municipality and the number of day visitors are monitored monthly in the area. The products and services of tourist companies in the region can be purchased through online systems. The AR application for virtual tourism is maintained and used as part of increasing attractive tourism offers for those customers visiting the region. The service brochure digitally is ready and the distribution channels are defined. We have market surveys on potential markets and the selected sales workshops have succeeded in attracting interest in the region’s tourism offering. Finland’s efficient marketing campaign has brought more customers to the region and the tools created by the project are widely utilised in the operations of intelligent tourism testing. In the short term, therefore, purchasing will improve and visibility will increase and, in the long term, the development and marketing of tourism, derived from knowledge, has proved to be the right tool for the region.
