Entrepreneurship education flows in Kaako — from an entrepreneurial education strategy in south-eastern Finland to an ecosystem of entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship education flows in Kaako — from the strategy for entrepreneurship education in south-eastern Finland to an ecosystem of entrepreneurship — the aim of the project is to engage the various levels of entrepreneurship education (municipal civilisation activities, education providers and school management, educational staff, local business field and business community) and actors in the implementation of the strategy for entrepreneurship education in south-eastern Finland in Kymenlaakso and South Karelia. The implementation of the strategy in schools and educational institutions in the region and the integration of its objectives into the everyday work of teachers require determined work, guidance and concrete measures. A functioning ecosystem of entrepreneurship will be created in the region. This requires a wide-ranging increase in the entrepreneurial education skills of institutional management and teaching and guidance staff, including through continuing education. The project develops and supports actions to strengthen the guidance and teaching arrangements for children and young people, study processes, entrepreneurial attitudes and motivation and support employment through the content and methods of entrepreneurship education at different levels of education. In addition, the interaction between education, teaching and working life will be strengthened, as well as the key competences of learners and the working life capacity of learners. The measures will develop flexible pathways for studies and qualifications in entrepreneurship in the south-eastern Finland region in order to respond more quickly to the challenges arising from the restructuring of the region and to changing skills needs in the world of work. In addition, the measures will strengthen cooperation between schools, educational institutions, higher education and business, as well as the rest of the business sector. As a result of the project, the entrepreneurship education strategy has been integrated into the activities of the local municipalities and training providers, and the management of municipalities and educational institutions, as well as the teaching and guidance staff, have been given the tools to implement the strategy. The entrepreneurship education skills of teaching and guidance staff have increased and the evaluation and monitoring of the implementation of entrepreneurship education is systematic. In addition, new entrepreneurship education delivery models and learning environments supporting entrepreneurship have been created. The Entrepreneurship Education Forum is well established and the various actors involved in entrepreneurship education are extensively networked. In the long term, young people are becoming more entrepreneurial and more start-ups. The main project is implemented by Cursor Oy and partners in Lappeenranta University of Technology, Etelä-Kymenlaakso Vocational College and Kouvola Region Vocational College in cooperation with Kouvola Innovation Oy (Kinno) and municipalities in the region, education and training providers and business and business life. Entrepreneurship education is a gender-neutral activity that contributes to encouraging young people to engage in entrepreneurship and promoting equality and equality.
