Joensuu KAKE

Joensuun Kake’s goal is to promote a new type of grassroots initiatives and the needs of residents in urban areas. It aims to promote social inclusion and work capacity. It boosts self-development in the city of Joensuu and brings people together to improve their own life situation and living environment. The KAKE project will create and deploy a new civic development tool and mobilise citizens‘actors to make use of it.KAKE’s sub-objectives: 1) Encourage citizens’ actors to promote their development ideas; 2) Connect and strengthen citizens‘actors in self-development; 3) Create a low-threshold financing model for citizens’ development ideas.KAKE measures:1) Active information2) Encouragement of assistance (3) Encourage and strengthen civic actors4) Creating a low threshold funding modelThe project will result in the development of organisations and the mobilisation of citizens, which will increase the vitality of the local community and its social cohesion. The project will increase the capacity of citizens’ actors for community development and will entrench an approach based on active urbanism in the district of Joensuu.
