The “International House Helsinki” service concept is piloted in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area’s Tööin Finland project, which develops early integration services for all immigrants, improves the employment of immigrants in companies on a demand-driven basis, develops employment advice for immigrants and empowers immigrant organisations to promote the employment and career development of their members. In addition, the project will develop integration training in such a way that the starting point of the training is more clearly immigrant’s own skills and career plans, as well as the needs of employers. The project is implemented by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce, the Central Association of Finnish Trade Unions SAK, the Uusimaa ELY and the TE Office, and the Moniheli Association of Multicultural Organisations. In addition to the promoters, the project involves a large network of partners. The project promotes gender equality in a way that narrows gender gaps in employment between people with a migrant background. The gender perspective has been taken into account in the project’s activities, for example by paying special attention to the information, services and employment of women in early integration.
