The project is implemented as a joint project between the university and the universities of applied sciences. A wide-ranging implementation base achieves diverse know-how and commitment to the results of the project. The project is implemented and managed as the main applicant by Lapland University of Applied Sciences Ltd/Industry and Natural Resources Competence. Other responsible implementers of the joint project are Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences Ltd, University of Helsinki Ruralia Institute, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences Ltd and Centria University of Applied Sciences Ltd. The aim of the project is to develop, as a network of higher education actors, a training model for the Green Care sector, which will allow tailored, cross-sectoral and consistent training for entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, experts and professionals in the field without burdensome planning processes. The project’s compilation and production of information on Green Care and higher education will enable the development of a new education model. The aim is to create a strong basis for the development of Green Care higher education. The training model and the compilation of Green Care data are applied to the degree parts and make use of existing resources as far as possible, such as the basics of the training content formed by Green Care Finland ry, the training content in organisations, the Green Care training material, and the good practices of existing training models and online training platforms. The development of the training model, as well as the compilation and production of Green Care data, focuses directly on the needs related to the development of Green Care training from working life. The focus is on finding the right content and developing new ways of producing training packages to increase the unified Green Care competence. The suitability of Green Care knowledge and materials, as well as the educational model, will be tested through different educational pathways for higher education. Individual participants from the working life will be selected according to the criteria defined in the project. Trainings are free of charge for participants during the project. The experiments will be carried out in the localities of all the organisations involved in the project. The experiments will increase the skills of those who are and are interested in Green Care activities. At the same time, the human capital of higher education actors will be increased to promote Green Care activities and training. Knowledge based on the results of the project enables the structural and growth sectors to offer new types of training and increases the content and quality of higher education. The new training model will increase the possibilities for organising training in different sectors in a flexible and national manner. All participating higher education organisations are responsible for the development, production and experimentation of the educational model and Green Care knowledge for the theme related to their core competence. In addition, the University of Lapland coordinates the development of the educational model and the University of Helsinki coordinates the evaluation part of the project. The development of the training model, as well as Green Care data, utilises the best expertise of all actors through commentary rounds, workshops, experiments, evaluations and documentation. The network created by the project supports the integrated development of higher education activities across sectoral boundaries and is responsible for developing new types of training needs in a coherent manner. The open network provides a good basis for the future to take the development and implementation of Green Care training forward. The project will also increase cooperation between the workforce, entrepreneurs and industries as well as industries, and will enrich the activities of all participants. The target groups of the project are Green Care experts, teachers, instructors and trainers at higher and secondary level, advisors, public authorities, service providers and employees, public and private customers purchasing Green Care services, as well as persons targeted for these tasks and future professionals in higher education. The resulting Green Care data, a coherent view of the Green Care level and content and criteria. The result is also a training model tested and evaluated through experiments. In addition, the project will produce a close tertiary network, bringing together higher education organisations and Green Care experts from different regions and sectors. The benefits of the project will be reflected in the use of the new education model, which will provide an alternative to and complement traditional education models.
