SMErec — New generation recruitment skills for SMEs and workforce

The aim of this project is to promote the competitiveness of companies in two different economic regions in Finland for the production leap by developing indicators to support the personnel strategy of companies and other recruitment tools. The aim here is to create innovative recruitment tools for SMEs based on both science and practice. The aim is to succeed in recruiting. The competitiveness and uniqueness of the solutions developed through the tools developed in the project is based on novelty value, as similar systems are not known to exist in educational institutions or in other communities that enable an equally high-skilled workforce. Another novelty of these solutions is the faster transfer of a higher-skilled workforce. The aim of the project is to change the value networks related to the business in such a way that recruitment becomes active and the skills of the jobseeker are shown in advance. This will accelerate the recruitment process and make the transition from education to work more efficient. The systems also generate cost savings in the recruitment process. For SMEs in particular, the direct costs of misrecruitment are significant, which can amount to up to 30 % of the employee’s annual salary. In the implementation share of the Karelia University of Applied Sciences, the objective is an operating model for graduate students and companies in recruitment situations. Training will be provided to SMEs to develop recruitment skills and the recruitment process in the management of human resources and to improve the corporate image. The concrete objective of the sub-project is to provide students of Turku University of Applied Sciences with an online competence platform that will create a database-based virtual CV system. In this system, each student has their own 1 minute video presentation, CV and updated competence map. Joensuun Seudun Development Company JOSEK Oy (since 1 January 2019) aims to develop a digital tool for micro-enterprises, which will serve as a guide and information channel in the transition from an entrepreneur to an employer. The aim is to find out how the attitude, competence, competence or competence of the (job) candidates are verifiable in the recruitment process. International cooperation in the SMErec project is based specifically on content-based cooperation and learning in other countries to develop similar content and activities. Cooperation takes place primarily on-line, but in order to achieve mutual trust, resources have been allocated to the SMErec project to carry out practical excursions and expert exchanges. Facilitating the articulation phase between education and training and working life is a key element of the projects in all countries. For example, the Virtual cv:llä developed at Turku University of Applied Sciences has clear links with the Dutch Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Selection Buddy mobile application, and both technical, content and functional interfaces are obvious. Similarly, the SME Recruitment System in Belgium has clear links to work in the Turku region as well as to sub-projects aimed at improving the recruitment processes of companies in the North Karelia region. What is essential for the international cooperation of the SMErec project is that cooperation takes place at the level of practical factors. In practice, therefore, international co-operation is carried out by workers who carry out similar work in Southwest Finland, North Karelia and other countries. This is the best way to disseminate good practices and ideas from one country to another and from one region to the region. 1. The management of the project is carried out by Karelia-amk:lla, which has the main responsibility for the administrative tasks of the international project. The participants are responsible for international implementation and co-operation.2. Implementation of mixed reality (MR) in the recruitment expertise of students and companies, responsibility for Karelia-amk, implemented by JOSEK. Karelia University of Applied Sciences implements the development of successful recruitments for SMEs and the development of students’ working life skills by means of technology.3. The growth of companies’ recruitment expertise in the management of human resources and the modernisation of the corporate image, responsibility for Karelia-amk, implemented by JOSEK and Turku amk. Pilot training (workshops, short-term coaching) tailored to companies’ recruitment needs from a human resource management perspective and corporate reputation management.4.
