Joensuu’s KAKE 2.0 project is carried out as a citizen-driven urban development project in the Joensuu metropolitan area 2.1.2018-31.12.2020. The project encourages citizen-driven development and the comfort of the residential area. The target group is people living in the district of Joensuu; people and service providers using various types of inclusion, rehabilitation, employment, social and health services, as well as citizens’ actors in the Riverside. The project will finance development projects and events designed by citizens as a transfer of support. The aim is to support social inclusion, working life capacity, work and functional capacity, employment and retention in employment, and piloting service models that support employment. Citizens’ initiatives seek good practices that can be productised as activities, services or areas for further development. A low-threshold funding model is used, whereby citizens’ actors receive support from both financial and manager project staff to plan and implement projects and events. The project will contribute to the development of cooperation between citizens‘actors and municipalities and between citizens’ actors. The project is managed by the City of Joensuu.
