Mode

The psychosocial support service system for young adults has recognised development needs at national and local level. In particular, there are shortcomings in the services of young adults who are not in work or study. There are many services — which is a good thing. However, the problem is that many services are of limited duration and do not tie in with meaningful pathways for young people. One solution to this would be for a young person to be supported by a credit worker who would work with the young person on a long-term basis. The Modei project also supports young people regardless of gender, its forms of expression and sexual orientation. In 2015-2017, the Social Rehabilitation Model “Pomppu” was developed for young adults who are not in work or study, who are suffering from mental health challenges. The project gained valuable experience on how to improve the services of this target group.Mode project aims to translate existing resources in Vantaa for the benefit of young people. This requires the promotion of new thinking and change at the level of the service system — across organisational and sectoral boundaries. As a tool for this, a multidisciplinary cooperation group will be set up in Moodi to provide support to young people in difficult situations and their credit workers. The group promotes the spread of the credit-working model and multidisciplinary pairing. The group is extremely necessary, as young people who are not in study are left out of the multidisciplinary support networks that have been built into student care. The vision of the Moodi project is to build a sufficiently long, multidisciplinary rehabilitation path for young adults in a psychosocially difficult situation. The aim is also to improve forms of home support for young adults who are left at home by developing closer cooperation between outreach and social work, diversifying working methods and training workers in different organisations. During the project, the aim is to build and entrench a work model between two organisations in the operational culture to carry out the work to be taken home. The training is utilised e.g. service is me! information from the research component of the project on a trust-based work policy. The mode also develops cooperation with organisations so that their skills and resources become part of the youth rehabilitation path more effectively. In mode, multidisciplinary service system development is carried out in the networks of professionals engaged in customer work as well as with the Vantaa Youth Services Coordination Group, which represents the management level. With the development of the service system, the benefits of the project will be for the benefit of all young people from Vantaa.
