Digital stairs — digital growth for business

There are significant differences and shortcomings in the digitisation of companies, which put operators at a disadvantage and prevent the opportunities of digitalisation in business development. As the whole business environment shifts towards the digital era, there is a need to develop digital skills in most business sectors.South Savo has just under 10,000 companies and nearly 13,000 business premises. Up to 95 % of enterprises in the region are small enterprises with fewer than 10 employees. The share of small enterprises is higher than the national average. The risks and challenges of digitalisation seem to be accumulating in small businesses. According to a number of studies, “a large number of SMEs are at risk of falling out of development” — there are currently a significant number of companies that are currently sufficiently digital, but whose products and services challengers can offer substitute solutions even in a very short time, given the limits and scalability of the digital business. Those companies with the ability to face the changes brought about by digitalisation, for example, in customers’ purchasing behaviour, will be better off in competition. Understanding the digital business environment also opens up huge opportunities for developing one’s own operations.South Savo has a particularly strong need for digital skills in the face of demographic challenges. It is important that in the future, for example, place neutrality can be used in recruiting new talent. As trade shifts more and more online, demand for products and services can be created beyond the borders of your province and country. The Target Project implements training and raises know-how in a company-oriented manner, based on the needs of the companies in the region. SMEs’ operating models will be updated to reflect and take advantage of modern approaches. The project takes into account the management, management and employees of the company to find and implement more efficient methods and new tools. The aim of the project is to renew the digital training offered to SMEs in the region by creating and experimenting with a new skills mapping model. By identifying the starting level of companies, it is possible to plan a training path for each company that meets its own needs. The project will create new demand-driven digital training in the region. At least 140-165 companies from the province will participate in the training. The content of the trainings can be targeted according to the needs of companies and the level of knowledge and skills of business advice will also be improved to meet future requirements.
